Since it was founded in 1956 the Duke of Edinburgh's Award has aimed to help young people undertake an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development.
The award is open to young people of ages 14 to 25 and offers three levels for them to work through - Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Each level has four specific sections Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, Expedition and at the Gold level participants are also required to complete a residential project.
Undertake activities that help communities, individuals or groups. This could be in the form of an environmental project, work with older people or young children or any other voluntary activity.
Learn a new skill or pursue an existing interest, from learning to drive or getting a first aid qualification to developing artistic talents, the options are endless and everyone should be able to find something that they enjoy.
Become involved in some form of physical activity, this could be sport, dance or any other activity that provides an enjoyable physical challenge.
Encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery by preparing for and carrying out an adventurous journey. Perfect for developing team work, organisational and physical skills.
