Yvonne is an International Mountain leader, DofE accredited assessor, climbing instructor and a very keen sailor.
After teaching for 19 years Yvonne decided to resign her post of head of PE and concentrate on the parts of the job that she enjoyed most, DofE and outdoor education. She has been running a very successful DofE group in Norfolk for 25 years, she also coaches climbing and gymnastics.
We asked Yvonne a few questions about expeditions and this is what she said:
What is the most memorable expedition that you have been on?
The Pyrenees way back in 1993, it was my first expedition in Europe. The highlights were seeing the awe inspiring Breche de Roland and the Ordesa Canyon, climbing Mount Perdu and fantastic thunder storms which chased us down the mountain.
If you were doing your Gold Expedition this year where would you go?
The Pyrenees for great wildlife, wild flowers, scenery, weather and wild camps.
What is the one luxury item that you always take with you on an expedition?
Any fresh food like fruit or veg to liven up the dehydrated stuff.
