Tim is a senior instructor for A to Z Expeditions. He is an International Mountain Leader and DofE accredited assessor.
Originally a Geography teacher, Tim has worked with DofE groups for more than 10 years and has led expeditions in the UK, Europe and beyond. He prides himself on training people in the skills to make their expeditions fun and successful. He particularly likes cold places and recently confessed that he has spent more than four years living and working in the Arctic and Antarctic!
We asked Tim a few questions about expeditions and this is what he said:
What is the most memorable expedition that you have been on?
An attempt at skiing 500km across Svalbard when I was 19 years old, it was rudely interupted by Polar Bears!
If you were doing your Gold Expedition this year where would you go?
Hmmmm, Wales, probably Snowdonia as I love the great mountains and valleys and rain.
What is the one luxury item that you always take with you on an expedition?
My lucky bear...
Tim is also a photographer, if you would like to see some of his images check out www.timburtonphotography.com
