Sarah is a freelance outdoor instructor, she is a DofE accredited assessor and is working towards her Mountain Leader assessment.
Sarah is currently studying Sports Science and Outdoor Education at Bangor University and in her spare time she works as an outdoor instructor. She is also a qualified Cave Leader, Basket Ball Coach and keen climber. She is a busy girl but luckily she still finds time to work with our DofE groups.
We asked Sarah a few questions about expeditions and this is what she said:
What is the most memorable expedition that you have been on?
The first expedition I ever went on; it was a paddling expedition along the River Wye from Hay to Hereford. It was brilliant, despite the fact that we overshot our campsites a few times. We found a badger set and waited till dark hoping to see them, but all we saw were bats.
If you were doing your Gold Expedition this year where would you go?
I would go to the Black Mountains for sure. You get some stunning views and it is great fun to hide in the grass or bum-slide down the slopes.
What is the one luxury item that you always take with you on an expedition?
Marshmallows: they are amazing, there's nothing better than toasting marshmallows over your stove in the evening, humm yummy!
