Jo is a senior instructor for A to Z Expeditions, she is a Mountain Leader and DofE accredited Assessor. Jo is also working towards her International Mountain Leader award.
Originally a Biology teacher, Jo "saw the light" when taking time out to do a six month watersports instructors course at Plas Menai. She has worked in the outdoors ever since. Jo believed passionately in teamwork being the solution to the world's problems - it is possible to make 2 + 2 = 5 with a little cooperation.
Here are Jo's answers to our expedition questions:
What is the most memorable expedition that you have been on?
The GR20 - a fifteen day trek through the mountains of Corsica, from the north to the south of the island. It was demanding, particularly the impressive Cirque de la Solitude, but it was all worth it, not least for the photos I managed to capture.
If you were doing your Gold Expedition this year where would you go?
I'd like to explore the West Highlands of Scotland. I've not been there yet and I'm hoping it might cure my desire to move to New Zealand.
What is the one luxury item that you always take with you on an expedition?
A pair of binoculars - allows observation of wildlife that would not be possible otherwise.
