Bryony Passmore

Bryony is a freelance outdoor instructor, she is a DofE accredited assessor and Mountain Leader

Bryony lives in the heart of the Black Mountains where she runs a Horse Riding and Trekking yard.  She is also a cave leader and a keen climber.  In addition to delivering training and expeditions Bryony also helps out in the A to Z Expeditions office.

Here are Bryony's answers to our expedition questions:

What is the most memorable expedition that you have been on?

A scramble trip up the North Ridge of Tryfan in January 2009.  Conditions were icy and cloud cover was low we could only see the first 5m of the mountain before it was swallowed up in the mist. Even though it was cold, gloomy and dangerous (we were never too sure how close we were to steep drops) it was the most exhilarating and exciting trip I've ever done - we celebrated at the end with a night out in Bangor!

If you were doing your Gold Expedition this year where would you go?

If I were doing my Gold Expedition this year I would go up to Scotland.  I haven't done much walking in Scotland and I'd love to explore further whilst challenging myself in an environment I'm not so used to.

What is the one luxury item that you always take with you on an expedition?

I'm never without my MAC foundation, it protects my skin from the elements and makes me feel slightly more human even when ontop a mountain in the middle of nowhere with no-one/nothing to see me but insects, birds and mountain sheep :-)
