Here are Brett's answers to our expedition questions:
What is the most memorable expedition that you have been on?
I guess it would have to be the trip to the Amazon with one of my daughters. We were hit by the Friajes - freak cold winds that occasionally blow down off the Andes - and as we were travelling light all out warm gear had been left in a locker in Puerto Maldonado. I never expected to be so cold in the rain forest!
If you were doing your Gold Expedition this year where would you go?
Difficult question! I love the mountains, so that would definitely be a factor. I love going to places where there are significant cultural differences. To keep the air miles down, I guess the perfect destination would have to be the Atlas Mountains. The people in Morocco are so warm and friendly too.
What is the one luxury item that you always take with you on an expedition?
Aha! That's much easier. I always take a small plastic container with a supply of sun-dried tomatoes, olives and capers to liven up expedition food - yum, yum!
